Everybody always asks about the food. I have one warning: never drink the water!
Generally speaking, the food is nearly always very good. Americans eat with their eyes first and with their mouths second. Even if it isn’t exactly pleasing to the eyes, generally it tastes good.
In some villages as in Belize, the food is amazingly delicious. Just look at the pics. Fresh fruit in the Caribbean Sea regions is always delicious. And the cooked food is generally just as good. Look at the pics!
In Malawi, Africa for example, I never eat salads. They always wash it in unsanitary water or maybe you are not able to determine how it was washed. Either way, I’ll pass. If the fruit can be peeled, it’s safe. Oranges and bananas. The cooked food could have ‘mystery’ meat as we like to put it.
On one trip to a restaurant in Dedza, Malawi, we ordered 2 T-Bones for $5 US. One of the men I was with was from Australia originally. He had 2 and I had 2 as well. Both T-Bones came on the same plate with a potato and vegetable. They weren’t stacked on top of each other but were lying side by side. I cut into one and took a bite and chewed for what seemed like 5 minutes. After the meal, I made a comment about the steaks being in the top 5 worst steaks to have ever been in my belly. He laughed and said his were pretty good!
